Will be others in the spring and summer
Concealed Carry Classes are typically held on Saturdays. The classroom portion is at CrossRoads Church located at 338 N. Hwy. 171 in Moss Bluff from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The range portion can be done on another day or on the same day after the classroom portion. The range portion is done at 3632 N. Hwy. 171.
Each class includes the NRA Basic Pistol Course along with personal defense training, instruction on Louisiana laws related to concealed carry, a 36 round range qualification and all training required to apply for a Louisiana CHP.
The class fee for a new applicant or an applicant with a permit that has been expired for more than 60 days or an applicant with a permit from another state is $125.
The class fee for a renewal student with a current and valid Louisiana permit or a permit that has been expired less than 60 days is $75.
This is the class fee only.
Other costs associated with applying for a permit include the permit fee charged by the Louisiana State Police and the cost of fingerprinting for new applicants charged by the LSP or local law enforcement.

Firearm:
You do not have to train with the gun that you plan to carry but it is recommended that you do if possible just to add to your familiarity. There's no minimum size or caliber that you have to bring. You can save money and not shoot up your defense ammo by shooting less-costly FMJ ammo or even a .22 if you'd like.
If you don't have a handgun that you want to use: No problem!
You can use one of my guns to qualify with for the price of the ammunition.
Ammo:
You will need 36 rounds to qualify with.
Other:
Bring ear and eye protection. I have extras if you don't have any.
Once you have completed the course, you will need to apply for your permit with the Louisiana State Police. This course only provides you with proof of training. Instructors have no say so at all with the Louisiana State Police's decision to issue or deny a permit. You must be a current Louisiana resident and at least 21 years old to apply for a Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit.
Online Application:
The easiest and fastest way by far is to apply online at the website at https://www.lsp.org/services/concealed-handgun-information/ When you do, you will be asked to supply additional documentation including the proof of training certificate that you will receive after the class. Most documents can be scanned or photographed with a smartphone and uploaded as PDFs. New applicants must also mail in a cover letter along with two fingerprint cards. You will download the cover letter when you're doing your online application. I will be happy to help you do your online application if assistance is needed.

Honorably discharged veterans and current active duty military service personnel who are not considered a prohibited individual under state or federal law can carry concealed in Louisiana without a permit. Details can be found at https://bearcotraining.com/constitutional-carry-for-louisiana-military-vets-and-personnel/
Veterans who want to get a permit so that they can carry in reciprocal states do not have to pay a permit fee to the LSP but they do have to have a proof of training certificate such as the one this class provides and they do have to apply for a permit with the LSP and be approved. They will have to submit a copy of your DD214 with their application to the LSP to prove that they served and were not dishonorably discharged.
NOTE: If you have not continuously resided in Louisiana for the 15 years immediately preceding the date on which your application is made, an additional $50 fee will be required by the LSP. This is for first time applicants only and is not required for subsequent renewals.
For more information, please go to the LSP website by clicking the LSP link on the menu bar at the top of this page. The LOUISIANA CONCEALED HANDGUN PERMIT LAWS AND ADMINISTRATIVE RULES are available at https://www.lsp.org/media/e04occ5m/chrulebook.pdf
FINGERPRINTS: You will need to mail in two sets of prints to the LSP with a cover letter that you will download and print out when you do your online application. It is recommend that you have your fingerprinting done digitally at the at LSP Headquarters in Baton Rouge. If you cannot go to Baton Rouge, you can get ink prints made at CPSO. Call CPSO at (337)491-3700 for cost, form of payment and other details.
Your prints must be submitted within 60 days of doing your online application with the LSP. Be sure you get two fingerprint cards from two different sets of prints from wherever you have your prints made. Don't forget to sign your cards and to have the person doing your prints sign your cards.
RENEWALS: Renewal students only pay $70 for the course but my course requirements for renewing training are the same as those for new applicants.
